September 26, 2009 was this year’s Family Field Day. We had more than 75 participants, and 29 volunteers including folks from the Christian Bowhunters Association, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (Divisions of Wildlife and Watercraft) as well as the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (pictured right) and Ohio Trappers Association.

 

The weather didn’t cooperate to allow our LifeFlight helicopter to visit, but we enjoyed the activities and events anyway.

Rachel Buurma of Willard Ohio accepted our Faithfulness in Service award on behalf of Buurma Farms of Willard, Ohio. Buurma Farms has provided the vegetables for the stew and Rachel has faithfully run the outdoor cooking station for our many years, cooking up our “Road Kill Stew” (really high quality venison donated by Adrian Wilson) and venison chili.

Without our volunteers we could not possibly run this event.

Two young people went home very happy to have received firearms (under the permission of their parents, of course)  donated by Peter Amspaugh and Sam Ballou.

 

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation gave away seven youth bow sets to young participants.
