Will we get all our birds?

Hunting is never a sure thing, at our club or elsewhere. Hunting results depend on a number of things, including weather, your hunting ability, etc. We will do our best to see that you have an enjoyable hunt, but if you want a sure thing, we have oven-ready birds to take home.

What facilities are available?

Our clubhouse is a comfortable place to enjoy a cup of coffee or soda pop before or after the hunt, discuss business with clients, or relive the "one that got away." You are welcome to bring in food to eat, or enjoy one of our nearby restaurants. Limited lunch menu available with advanced notice. We have
expanding to serve you better! Our Corporate Room is available for education opportunities, corporate entertainment, or receptions.

See our lodging and travel page for places to stay in the area. The on-site Baehr Guest House, home for many years of Charles and Jeannette Baehr and their family, founders of Elkhorn, would make a convenient stay-over spot for groups of up to six.

What does a typical hunt cost?

See our hunt packages for exact rates, but a half day hunt with a twelve – pheasant bag limit split by three hunters, including use of our dog and handler would cost under $100 each. Tips are never required, or added into your costs in any way. Feel free to show your appreciation if your guide has done a good job for you.

We recommend #7
1/2 gauge shells for upland game, and sell appropriate loads for sporting clays, skeet and trap, or feel free to bring your own.

For your safety, No shot larger than 6s.

Are reservations necessary?

For hunting, absolutely! To promote your safety, hunting areas are limited and assigned, preferences being taken into account as much as possible. Please note that we are closed to hunting on Sunday mornings so that our staff can worship with their families. If you wish to shoot the "help yourself" sporting clays ranges during this time, you are welcome to do so.

We ask that you give as much notice as you can, especially for high demand times such as holidays, although
we are closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and Easter. Three weeks is usually enough to ensure your date, and weekdays are generally available, although one can never tell. Feel free to call on spur-of-the-moment hunts. We just may have the room, and it won't hurt to try!

Are deposits required?

To secure your reservations, a 25% deposit is required at the time of reservation, (credit card or check). This is to confirm your guides and cover their expenses in case of "no-shows." If you need to postpone or cancel your hunt, do so as soon as you know you need to do so. "Fowl" weather may postpone your hunt, and we will transfer your deposit to an alternate date. If you are in doubt, please call to discuss it with us. We will try to work with you as much as possible, but expect common courtesy.

If you cancel too late to avoid an unnecessary trip by our guides, we think it only fair that you should pay their guide
